An undersized unit will run constantly, struggle in extreme conditions, and still leave you uncomfortable.

Because garages see more dust, sawdust, pollen, and general debris than indoor rooms, a mini-split installed there works in a tougher environment. The indoor unit’s filters will typically load up faster, which means they need to be checked and cleaned more often.

Outside, the condenser unit should have at least two feet of clearance on all sides so air can move freely through the coil.
